Born in Belgium, I migrated in 1987 to Singapore which has now become "home" to me. My interest in photography started at the age of 11 when my dad taught me the foundations of photography. My interest in digital technology started in the early eighties when I was studying for my Master's of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. After obtaining my MBA in 1992 from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in the USA, my business involvement in digital telecommunications further deepened my interest in digital technology.

and digital technology into a career in digital photography. I developed algorithms to seamlessly transform digital images, published digital imaging content on the Internet, extensively researched image enhancement methods, alpha and beta tested several software packages, developed Graphical User Interfaces, judged digital imaging contests, and conducted digital imaging seminars.
Since 2000, I also have been a site-contributor for dpreview.com, providing content for the glossary and writing key software reviews.
Having countless website visitors, friends, and family members asking me for advice on which digital camera to purchase and what to do with the images, inspired me to create 123di in 2003, which aims to synthesize the essential information available today that you will need to make the most out of your digital photography experience.
